Topic: Traditional Irish Music

Presentation Description: The workshop will consist of an interactive presentation of the different forms and instruments of the traditonal music of Ireland. The participants will gain an in-depth knowledge of the different dance and melodic music forms, styles of instrumental playing and the role of music in Ireland's past and present. The workshop is oriented towards anyone wishing to learn more about this subject. However, high school and collegiate instructors will especially benefit from the workshop. Because traditional music is tightly woven into the fabric of Irish culture, instructors and students of music, literature, poetry and social studies will find the workshop applicable to their subjects.
